Read, read and read!

Yes, just reading a lot can help in your writing career! Explore different genres and types of stories. Read mystery, fiction, comedy, horror, action...there are hundreds of genres to enjoy! Find out various types of writings. For example, you may just have an interest in reading news articles in magazines and on google ; or you may have developed a keen interest in a certain type of storybook.. Whatever interest you have, or you haven't found one yet, reading will help you find your type and get to know more about it!

Build Your Vocabulary

As we said above, read, read & read. Reading limitlessly will help build your vocabulary. It will give you life lessons, new words and techniques to go about writing your own thing. Having an immense vocabulary will help you find right words to explain a situation wonderfully. Learn new proverbs and phrases. In your writing life, you’re going to have to describe and summarise; knowing lots of figures of speech will help in that. The more you are accurate with your description, the more readers will enjoy your piece of writing.

Education

Many authors start writing their stories without any degree, but their success depends on their skills. You can do that too, but we suggest doing a bachelor degree in literature first. Learning more will improve your writing and you will learn many techniques to work with.

To get a job in any other position except for author, you’ll need a higher education degree. Various jobs at various places need different types of certifications and degrees, for example, to get a job as an editor, most places will demand atleast a bachelor’s degree in English, whereas a screenwriter might need a master’s degree in English to qualify.

Careers

Some basic jobs in the world of writing are author, journalist, editor, blogger, reviewer, compiler, poet, screenwriter etc. And salary isn't always a consistent factor. If you are becoming an author, and are financially stable, you can directly start writing a book, but you won't have any income until you publish your book. Or else, you can take up another job simultaneously. You can apply as a professor, you can go into journalism or work as an editor, without even leaving the field of writing. If you want to become anything else than an author, the salary depends on what your job is and where you are hired.

Attracting Readers

If you’re into journalism or writing your own books, you’re going to need loyal readers, and you will have to earn them. First of all, you have to talk EVERYONE you know about your write-ups. The more you talk about it, the more people will check it out.

Then, you’re going to need beautiful advertisement posters and possibly a introductory video. There are many apps and websites which can help you in this section. If you’re not satisfied with the results, you can hire a designer to do your work.

Next, get on as many social media platforms as you can. Talk about your writings online, give the Internet snippets and blurbs to attract readers. Share your links on all platforms. Follow and join various groups to share your ideas and promote your pieces of writing.
